Simon Marius 1612. M32 was discovered by Le Gentil in 1749 Note: Andromeda galaxy has a diameter around 220 000 light years making it the largest member of the local group. In about 4.5 billion years it will collide with the Milky Way galaxy. Andromed contains 1 trillion stars.
